The District Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Somuah, continued his community outreach on Friday, 25th September 2026, with visits to the traditional authorities and residents of Odumase, Konkoma, Didaso Dagomba and Nkujua Aframso.
In his address, the Hon. DCE expressed gratitude to residents for their overwhelming support and endorsement of the President in the last General Elections. He also thanked the traditional authorities and Hon. Assembly Members for their unanimous endorsement of his nomination as District Chief Executive.
Hon. Somuah assured residents of his commitment to implementing significant infrastructural projects to improve their livelihoods. He reaffirmed the government's dedication to targeted development across key sectors, including education, healthcare, agricultural development, youth employment and other socio-economic areas such as electricity, road networks and the provision of potable drinking water.
The Hon. DCE explained recent government measures to ensure value for money through the enforcement of strict directives regarding disbursements from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). He also emphasised the need to improve the Assembly's Internally Generated Fund (IGF) performance to complement government efforts in addressing critical social needs within these communities.
Hon. Somuah addressed various concerns raised by residents, including the deplorable state of roads and support for community self-aid infrastructural projects such as teachers' accommodation quarters and public toilets. Other issues raised included electricity extension, water challenges, the construction of a CHPS compound in close proximity to the communities, the frequency of health staff visits, challenges with revenue collection from cargo drivers at checkpoints, the establishment of kindergarten schools, the absence of the school feeding programme, the destructive activities of sand winners, and support for farmers through fertilizer distribution and ready markets for farm produce.
The Hon. DCE also addressed the activities of nomadic cattle rearers, which have caused the destruction of farm crops. He encouraged community members to form watchdog groups to ward them off and assured them of the support of the Assembly and the District Security Committee (DISEC) in this regard.
Residents of the Konkoma community expressed immense gratitude to the Hon. DCE and the Assembly for fulfilling its pledge by constructing a mechanised borehole to address their dire water challenges.
The traditional authorities and residents expressed appreciation to the DCE, noting that the visit demonstrated the Assembly's positive intent to address their most pressing needs. They assured him of their commitment to supporting the Assembly's vision of attaining a progressive and developed District.
