The District Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Somuah, on Friday, 18th September 2026, continued his community outreach engagements with a visit to the Ankamadoa Community.
The forum was formally opened by the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Hon. Lawrence Boakye Boateng, who was in attendance alongside other officials.
In his opening address, Hon. Boakye Boateng underscored the critical need for residents to commit to supporting the District Assembly in improving its Internally Generated Fund (IGF). He emphasized that this was essential for addressing major infrastructural challenges within the District. He highlighted various revenue areas ceded to the Town and Area Councils for collection and admonished residents to support their Assembly Member and Unit Committee Members in this regard.
He further emphasized the importance of maintaining hygienic surroundings to enhance healthy living, cautioning residents that non-participation in communal sanitation exercises remains a punishable offence under the Assembly's by-laws.
Additionally, he advised against the practice of rearing animals and allowing them to stray into farms and gardens, which results in the destruction of farm crops.
In his address, Hon. Somuah expressed heartfelt gratitude to community members for their immense support of his administration. He applauded the efforts of the local Assembly Member for his drive in advancing the interests of his constituents and encouraged residents to continue rallying behind him to ensure he delivers on his mandate.
The DCE also highlighted the current disbursement arrangements by Central Government for the District Assembly's Common Fund across all MMDAs, underscoring the achievements chalked by the Assembly in upholding the established guidelines under this new arrangement.
He further outlined major completed and ongoing projects, including the construction of various classroom blocks, CHPS compounds, provision of water, and rehabilitation of roads, among others.
The Hon. DCE took turns to clarify issues and address various concerns raised by residents, giving assurances of investigating and resolving them. Key issues highlighted included: support towards the completion of the Ankamadoa Community Centre project; clarification on the payment of building permits, property rates, and burial fees, rehabilitation of the Zongo community road and other inner-town roads; and addressing alleged issues of underhand dealings by some revenue collectors, as well as the intimidation and extortion of motorists by some police personnel at various checkpoints in the District.
