On Tuesday, 15th September 2026, the District Chief Executive, Honorable Samuel Somuah, continued his community outreach engagements with residents of Owuobuoho, Bimma, Nkwabrim, and Ekuor Communities. The visit formed part of the Assembly's broader effort to bring governance closer to the people and strengthen local decentralization.
The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Daniel Owusu, underscored the importance of regular community engagements, noting that they reinforce local governance and decentralization by bringing governance to the doorstep of residents. He urged community members to support the Assembly in delivering essential services aimed at enhancing their socio-economic development.
Mr. Owusu emphasized the need for residents to meet their civic obligations, particularly the payment of levies such as burial permits, property rates, and building permit applications, to boost the Assembly's Internally Generated Fund (IGF) capacity. He also called for strict adherence to the Assembly's bylaws on sanitation and animal rearing management.
He cautioned that persons who fail to participate in the mandatory monthly communal sanitation exercises, or who allow their animals to stray into neighbors' farms and gardens and destroy crops, would be punished and made to face the full repercussions of their actions.
The Coordinating Director announced the Assembly's initiative to employ additional revenue collectors on a commission basis and encouraged interested persons to apply. He further urged residents to take a keen interest in district governance and to visit the District Assembly to report their concerns and issues.
Key issues raised during the engagement included the deplorable state of some roads, the absence of electricity in some communities and the need to extend power to new settlements, and challenges with mobile network connectivity. Other concerns included the lack of teacher accommodation, requests for the construction and establishment of JHS blocks to ensure continuity in pupils' education, support for community , enhancement of police visibility, and the need for ready markets for farm produce.
Residents also called for the renovation of deplorable classroom blocks, support for community self-help projects, and the addressing of sanitation issues in some communities. Additional requests included enhanced security visibility, replacement of non-functional street light bulbs, and the distribution of electricity meters.
Hon. Somuah expressed gratitude to residents and Assembly Members for the overwhelming endorsement and support he has received since his nomination as DCE by the President. He reiterated the President's vision for essential and targeted development, evidenced by the regulated disbursement of District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) projects across the district, and assured residents of his commitment to completing all stalled and ongoing projects before the end of his tenure.
Nananom and residents of the communities expressed immense gratitude to the Hon. DCE and the Assembly for the initiative, commending it as a positive step toward meeting their welfare needs. They pledged their support for the Assembly's vision of a progressive, development-driven district and thanked the DCE and Assembly for their support of ongoing projects within their communities.
